Join Pastor Maxwell & the Affinity Worship Ministry at the
2019 Cleveland Baptist Urban Ministry Conference.

Beloved of God:

Please join me, the Ushers’ Ministry and the Sanctuary Choir on Thursday, May 23, as we serve as worship leaders for the Evening Worship Service at the 2019 Cleveland Baptist Urban Ministry Conference.  The preacher for the evening will be the Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, Pastor of the Alfred Street Baptist Church of Alexandria, VA.

Dr. Wesley is regarded as one of the most prolific and prophetic voices of justice and grace in our generation. An empathetic pastor who is not afraid to take on social and political issues, Dr. Wesley led community protest marches against the New York grand jury’s 2014 decision not to indict a NYPD officer whose choke-hold led to the death of Eric Gardner. His sermon, “When the Verdict Hurts,” was acknowledged in Time magazine’s July 29, 2013, cover story, “After Trayvon” as one of the best sermons preached in the United States following the “not guilty” verdict in the State of Florida v. George Zimmerman, who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. With his guidance, Alfred Street Baptist Church became the first and only faith-based institution founding donor of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C., with a $1 million donation.

The conference will be held Wednesday, May 22 — Saturday, 25, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.  The cost of the four-day conference is $159.00 for groups of eight or more.  We believe this conference is so important that we are making it available to Affinity Members for a cost of $99.00.  That is less than Thursday’s daily rate of $100.00.  To take advantage of this special offer please register directly with Affinity in the Church lobby following services.

In Him,

Pastor Maxwell
