“At the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”
Beloved of God:
In foreshadowing His crucifixion, Jesus speaks powerful words in John 12:24-25. He says,
“24Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground
and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces
many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone
who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
The irony of life in Christ is that we never find true life, and therefore our truest self, until we freely lose our life in His. Unless the seed falls to the ground and dies, it remains a single seed and never fulfills its true purpose. It is only in surrender that a seed finds out why it is here in the first place. It is not until the seed falls to the ground and dies, that it discovers a resurrection more glorious and fruitful than any seed could have asked for or imagined. This is Paul’s message when he says in the 6th Chapter of Galatians: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).
