“If the many died by the trespass of the one man [Adam], how much more… did the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!” Romans 5:15
Beloved of God:
If I have heard it one time as a pastor, I have heard it one thousand times, “Why did Adam have to sin and mess things up for us all?” But Adam didn’t cause our sin, Adam set the pattern for our sin. If it had not been Adam, or Kane, or any of the people who came before you; you still would have done the stuff you did. You can’t blame it on Adam, or your parents or on anybody else who came before you. Even if there is a genetic disposition, it’s still your life. You may have been raised in less than functional circumstances, but choices remain in your hands. The pattern was set with the first man, but we have each taken our turn and played our part.
Don’t fool yourself, we are each Adam. Our sin reverberates in the world. It affects those we know and impacts our progeny. Our sin seeps into the lives of those we don’t know, impacting the communities we inhabit, the generations in which we live and untold generations to come. Sin increases, spreads, grows and infects. That is simply what sin does.
Water is the most abundant natural resource there is on the planet. Approximately 72 percent, of our planet is covered in water – that’s almost 3/4 of the entire planet! There is more water on earth than there is air to breath. And yet, there is not enough water to clean up the damage that our collective sin has caused.
But thank God, where sin increases grace increases all the more (Romans 5:20). If death has come by the pattern of sin set by one person – Adam, how much more has the gift of life come by the grace of one Man, Jesus Christ!
In Him, Pastor Maxwell
