Peace Be Still
He said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly…’ (Mark 4:39-41, NKJV)
Beloved of God:
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus had the power to speak to the wind and waves, and they calmed right down. Yet, he was less successful in calming the fearful hearts of his disciples. The hearts of those twelve frightened men could not be calmed by his words, nor by the miracle of his calming the sea. Could Jesus be saying to us in this present moment, “Peace, be still!” More importantly, do we have the faith to hear him, and allow his words to still our souls?
Success in life is not about avoiding the storms of life. Storms are going to come. Success is more dependent upon maintaining a sense of peace through the storm. Success is about keeping your mind on an even keel even though your ship is being rocked back and forth. It’s about standing firm, even though it may seem as if the ground is shaking beneath your feet. It’s about maintaining an unwavering faith in an unchanging God, though the world as you know it may be changing right before your eyes.
In this movement in time, allow Christ to speak to your heart, “Peace be still,” and then follow accordingly.
