“…my eyes have seen your salvation…”

Luke 2:30

Beloved of God:

I don’t know if you have been there but sometimes it doesn’t matter if you are in a hospital room, somebody’s house or on lockdown, there is an exhilaration that is experienced when the thing you have been waiting on from God shows up.  It doesn’t have to be a big thing, it doesn’t have to be a material thing — maybe you have been waiting on an answer, on some direction, on your healing, but when you know it is from God, exhilaration turns into exaltation.

This is what happens to a man named Simeon who breaks into song upon seeing the Christ Child for the first time.  Luke tells us that “it had been revealed to Simeon by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.” He waited his entire life, but Luke 2:27 tells us on a particular day, “guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple complex. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for Him what was customary under the law, Simeon took Him up in his arms, praised God, and said:

29“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,

you may now dismiss your servant in peace.

30For my eyes have seen your salvation,”

Simeon’s Song reveals the peace,  power and joy experienced as we live life in God’s presence.  May the same peace, power and joy fill your life this Season and throughout the New Year.

In Him,
